A sunseeker, by definition, is someone who seeks the warmth of the sun. I do indeed seek warmth. I am happiest when I can catch a sun ray—the feeling of the sun on your face is the best any time of year.
Beyond physical warmth, the sun represents what many seek—success, positivity, growth, and often new beginnings. Every sunrise is a chance for a new beginning.
Sunseeker | 823 is an evolving collection of my interests and experiences. I intend to help others shine who might need a confidence boost, feel overlooked and disregarded, or feel there is more to life but are unsure where to start on that growth journey. I hope you find something here to inspire you to keep going.
THE IMPORTANCE OF YOUR PURPOSE
We all have a story to tell, and even if you think your story is insignificant and couldn't possibly benefit anyone, you are mistaken. I do not often speak in absolutes; YOUR story is significant, and YOU are important. We all have a purpose. YOU matter, and YOUR purpose matters. Sharing our stories helps us to connect and grow.
Your sharing your story opens up a pathway for others to share. Putting yourself in the spotlight can be unnerving if you are not used to it. As I write this, I'm nervous about whether or not I should be doing this, but if I don't, that will make me a hypocrite and a fraud. I believe in leading by example.
Sometimes, I worry about what friends or coworkers think, but I am grateful to work with people I know who want the best for me. The things we do outside of our full-time work that create confidence and aliveness carry over to all aspects of our lives. People who care about you want the best for you. Engaging in what I am sharing on this site is like going to the gym, but it's an exercise for my mind. A well-exercised mind will benefit you in every activity you engage in.
Let the sun shine into the dark places and fix what is broken. We are ALL a little broken. Sharing your story does not mean you have to pour out every dark secret on social media. This process is about uncovering your true authentic self and letting that guide you to live your best life—whatever that means for you. Initially, sharing your story might mean journaling or talking to a coach, therapist, or mentor. Once you've sorted things out and feel more confident about yourself, you can share more broadly (about what you choose to share).
DREAM BIG
Through my writing and other means, I hope to inspire others to start their journey of self-discovery. If something I share resonates, but you still feel stuck, contact me. It's often hard to talk about ourselves, but having a guide can help. Spend an hour with me, and I will write your story from my perspective to help create a mind-shift about yourself (breaking the fear mindset is critical). When I say story, I do not mean a novel. It might be one page, or it could be three (there isn't a limit). I love to write, and if my gift can help you, that's what life is all about—uncovering our gifts for the benefit of others.
Partially, what led me down this path is my work in real estate. You get to know people at a deeper level during the homebuying/selling process (I will NEVER share anything about a client). My work in real estate uncovered that there are so many more ways I can help people in addition to investing in real estate. I have a broad professional background, I know my personal experiences can help others, and I enjoy helping people and giving back. I have a background in non-profit development work (fundraising and marketing). I dream one day of having my own charitable foundation that my real estate work will fuel. Until then, I dedicate 10% of my net real estate commission to philanthropy. If you are going to dream, you might as well dream big! I know I have a lot to offer that will benefit others; it just took me a long time to figure it out.
We are all a part of one grand story, like the colored dots in the painting above. YOU matter, and YOUR story matters.
A Sunday on La Grande Jatte — 1884
Ultimately, I want to help people lead a well-balanced, well-informed, and inspired life.
Remember to shine brightly and always seek the sun!
Thank you for being here,
Kari
